“La Banque de Tunisie” was recently elected as the best bank in Tunisia by a major international investment firm, “The Global Finance”…
The “ Banque de Tunisie” will receive this new distinction in the sidelines of the annual meeting organized by the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank which is expected to take place on October 2007 in Washington.

The Tunis International Bank (TIB), part of Kuwaiti investment holding company Kuwait Projects Company (KIPCO), plans to open branches in Algeria and Libya, it was reported on May 24, 2007… The Tunisia-based bank posted a net profit of $9.8 mln (7.3 mln euro) for 2006, up from $9.2 mln ($6.8 mln euro) in the previous year….

Tunisia’s state-run Office Des Cereales said Monday that it bought 90,000 metric tons of soft milling wheat for shipment during June, on a cost and freight basis… The wheat is of optional origin and was bought in a tender that closed Thursday at the price of $248.89 a ton, an official at the office told Dow Jones Newswires…

Hindustan Times NEW DELHI, India, May 27 – SAJID, 14, came all the way from Kerala to Jamia Nizamia, India’s only Arabic-medium university, to get a classical education. Very soon, he ealized his erudition would have multiple uses. He’s now looking forward not only to the edifying experience of reading Ibn Khaldun’s Muqaddimah, but also to the more pecuniary satisfaction of landing a job in an Arabic-speaking country… “My parents sent me here to learn values and culture,” he said. “But now I also have opportunities. After completing my studies, I would love to start a career in Egypt.” Over the past two years, many students have got jobs on the strength of their language skills. Three students now work in newspapers in Tunisia, Morocco and Lebanon. This year, a student joined Accenture’s call centre in Gurgaon and two others got positions in Globsyn in Kolkata. Yet another student has joined the faculty of Egypt’s Al-Azhar University, the world’s oldest Islamic university.
